Calibrate Promethean IWB

When using a Promethean ActivBoard, it may become necessary to re-calibrate if the projector has moved slightly (vibrations) or there has been a recent power outage.

Calibration aligns the ActivPen with the cursor on the screen.

Step 1 - Check the Calibration

First, ensure that the Promethean board and Mac Mini are turned on, then hold the ActivPen lightly against the board. The cursor on the screen should be aligned with the tip of the ActivPen. If it is not, you must calibrate the ActivBoard.

Step 2a - Initialise Calibration (Method 1)

The first method for initialising the calibration sequence is to hover the ActivPen over the calibration light in the top-left corner of the ActivBoard for a few seconds. This should bring up the calibration screen.

Step 2a - Initialise Calibration (Method 2)

The second method for initialising the calibration sequence is to click on the ActivManager icon in the menu bar in the upper right-hand area of the Mac desktop. This will open up a menu with several options. Select "Calibration > 5 points (Quick)" in most instances. If you want a very precise calibration, you can choose the 25 point option.

Step 3 - Follow On-Screen Instructions

Next, follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the pen to the board. This will require pressing the pen to the board inside five (5) X's that will be sequentially displayed on the screen in the locations indicated above (for a quick 5-point calibration).

Once this step is complete the board is calibrated. If a mistake is made or the alignment is still not optimal, attempt another 5-point calibration or try a 25-point calibration. If this still does not resolve the issue, try restarting the computer and turning the board off and on. If this does not resolve the issues log the problem on the Help Desk and/or call the ICT Department for assistance.
